Today is another marvelous day off from routine and my standard daily duties.
I woke at the unbelievably late hour of 8:53AM this morning; that's more than 4 hours past my usual wake time of 4:25AM.
Zero guilt. Zero remorse and feeling marvelous as I allow myself to have a very natural flow to my mornings enjoying this break.
I'll be back in the normal swing of things on Thursday, January 2, 2020 but, until then, I'm going to begin dedicating myself to my mat.
The last time I hit my mat was a week and a day ago; that's plenty of time to loose flexibility and other attributes that come from a steady practice.
Again, not remorse and no guilt as I've thoroughly enjoyed the lazy pace of the Christmas season.
Physically, I'm soft and squishy (on account of the holiday foods that love me so much); I feel a bit of soreness in my lower back, but nothing that I can't fix in this morning's practice.
Mentally, I'm feeling good. Taking a break from routine is very rejuvenating, as we all know, and it gives your mentality some time to rest.
Spiritually, I feel as thought I need to dedicate a bit more of my life's focus on God. I've been very indulgent lately and a bit of time on my mat feels like just the things I need.
Time to sweat it out.
Thursday, December 27, 2019 (Part II)
I'm writing this on my mat, having just come out of Savasana.
I began my practice this morning around 11:00AM CT, and it's 12:33PM CT as I type this; that's about 1.5 hours of yoga and meditation.
Needless to say, I feel marvelous.
My practice was strong and focused, but there were all sorts of little surprise moments, as I moved, finding odd areas of sore and stiff muscles and joints and allowing myself the time seek into them, modifying Asana (physical postures) however I wanted.
I broke a hard sweat, and ended with the Ashthanga closing sequence poses of Urdvha Dhanrusana (backbends). I believe backbends are the key to the fountain of youth, the key to being beautiful (inside and out) and the key to pleasing God. #meta #hippie talk.
I will be sore as can be tomorrow but, after years of going to my mat, I know that the best remedy for soreness is to hit the mat again.
Time to shower up and enter the world.
Namaste
